Mason Bee Candling Dish

This Mason Bee Candling Dish is designed to hold mason bee cocoons for both short-term and long-term use.

Short-Term Use

For short-term application, cocoons can be placed into the dish and candled to check for parasitic wasps. To candle the cocoons, simply position the dish over a large flashlight in a dark room. This method allows you to easily see any parasites present inside a cocoon. If you discover any cocoons containing ten or more parasitic wasps, these can be safely destroyed to protect your bee population.

Long-Term Storage

For long-term use, this dish can also serve as a storage container for cleaned cocoons, keeping them safe and organized in your refrigerator until they are ready for use.
